London duo, Royalty, from the Five Easy Pieces Label lives somewhere in between Jimmy Edgar’s austere sex appeal, Kraftwerk’s chilly minimalism, and Daft Punk’s robotic revelry. Chesca, Hailing from Southern Italy has been a feature on the London boogie-funk circuit since her arrival in 2007. Before arriving she spent time in Los Angeles where she gained a following playing circuits such as The Low End Theory alongside Flying Lotus and releasing a few Ep’s via Alpha Pup Records. Her musical partner Elliot Yorke, a producer from London completes the outfit by spearheading the slick future funk with deep low-end melodies, incessant dance rhythms, alien vocoder sounds, and icy synthlines.
Burlei Us combined Royalty’s classic retro futuristic motif, with vocalist Erica Quitzow, the leader of New York’s Quitzow from Young Love Records. Erica’s style has been described as a triangulation point between the electroclash aggression of Peaches, the melodic richness and cross-genre fearlessness of the Magnetic Fields, and the disco-classical fusion of the late Arthur Russell. She’s been featured in Spin Magazine, Maire Claire, All Music Guide, Curve Magazine, Time Out New York, and many more.
Out of this collaboration we bring you the single “Naked" a song featuring Royalty’s electro-laced neck-snapping rhythms and Erica Quitzow’s vocal campaign of bubbly playful fun that is both dreamy and aesthetically smart and lovely.
